Revolutionizing Cultural Spaces: An Exploration of Jian Wang's Award-Winning Design

Jian Wang, a renowned architect, has breathed life into the Jianyang Culture and Art Center, a project that spans a whopping 48200 square meters. The design inspiration for this grand theater is rooted in the architectural form of "dancing ribbons." This design language encapsulates the dynamic and smooth atmosphere of the space, mirroring the flowing architectural shape.

The uniqueness of this design lies in its overarching concept of green, sports, and culture. A vibrant "vitality ring" connects the monomer buildings of various plots, each presenting a distinct character. The grand theatre, an essential part of the project, sits at the end of this dynamic ring.

Wang's choice of materials and processing techniques further enhances the design's uniqueness. The large surface features natural bamboo and wood veneer with a warm color, and marble with natural texture. The volume relationship of the space is balanced with a concise technique, reflecting the design concept of green environmental protection.

The library, another integral part of the center, adopts a neutral tone wood grain aluminum board, terrazzo wall, and PVC floor material. The interlacing and overlapping relationship of space is balanced using a concise technique, reflecting the design concept of green nature.

One of the significant challenges faced during the design process was the manipulation of light and shadow. During the day, more natural relations are introduced, allowing sunlight to form light and shadow changes in the space. At night, the combination of smooth shape hidden light source and diffuse light creates a soft and romantic artistic atmosphere.

The project, which started in July 2018 in Chengdu and finished in June 2019, has been awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020. This award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
